Harry Potter magic awakened
NetEase’s Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is finally set to launch this summer in select regions. This long-awaited RPG is in development at Portkey Games and sees you exploring the wizarding world, studying for classes at Hogwarts, and getting into all sorts of incredibly dangerous mischief.
The game offers a variety of gameplay types, including top-down magic battles, puzzle-like mini-games, and a whole heap of exploration – either alone or as part of a group. Combat revolves around playing cards, which represent various different spells. It looks kind of like Clash Royale in that respect, presenting you with a wide arsenal of attacks to utilise, all of which you can view at any time by rifling through your spellbook.
When you’re not studying or making a general nuisance of yourself, you can wander around popular Wizarding World locations, from Hogwarts itself to the Forbidden Forest and Diagon Alley. Every area and character is rendered in a rather striking art style that really makes the locations in particular pop.
According to a recent blog post on TapTap (via Daniel Ahmad), Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is set to launch this summer in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau for iOS, Android, and PC.
Unfortunately, there is still no word about a western release date, but given the sheer amount of spoken and written English on display in the game’s trailers – not to mention the IP’s immense popularity over here – we’d be very surprised if a global launch isn’t on the cards.
