SONIC NEXUS
Information
About
SONIC NEXUS is a homebrew game created by the Nexus Team under the direction of Slingerland. The game used The Taxman’s Retro Sonic engine, which joined the project in 2008. Development of the game began in the summer of 2006, with three demos released, two at the Sonic Casual Games Expo and one in the summer of 2008, which received great acclaim from many fan critics, such as “the absolute perfection of classic Sonic style.” In 2011, The Taxman announced that the Retro Sonic XG (RSXG) team was teaming up with Sonic Nexus (SN) to make Retro Sonic Nexus (RSN) together. Unfortunately, it was later abandoned.
Christian Whitehead, also known by his stage name “The Taxman,” is an Australian video game designer and software developer best known for creating updated ports of the early Sega Sonic the Hedgehog games and serving as the lead developer on the original Sonic Mania game. He has also developed several remakes of classic Sonic games and remasters of Sonic Origins.
The release is based on a decompiled Switch port from LittlePlanetCD, the PC version of Rubberduckycooly, based on RSDK HeyJoeWay CD, the game by Christian “Taxman” Whitehead, and the Slingerland Sonic Nexus team. The Nexus 2008 PC assets were retrieved from September 3, 2008, Sunset Shore levels 1 and 2, an animated intro, special and bonus levels; plus added a mod from Leonx254 with playable characters Tails and Knuckles.
